In the past I have worked for the Ferrari Formula 1 Grand Prix Team and have assisted at 12 Festival of Speed meetings. Because of this I have become a familiar face to the organisers and the March family.

Hoping to capitalise on this, I hatched an ambition to run my own Fiat 500 up the hill. Someone suggested that I may be more successful in my goal, and that it would have more impact, if I persuaded a well known person to drive on my behalf. I immediately thought of Lady Alexander March, but even knowing she was a good sport I was dubious as to whether she would agree to drive such a small slow car when surrounded by larger, faster and dare I say it, more prestigious cars. To my delight and surprise she greeted this suggestion with the greatest excitement and enthusiasm and moreover thanked me for having chosen her to do the honours.
On the Saturday Lady Alexander March was as good as her word and drove the Fiat 500 following the F1 cars up the Hill. Unfortunately she was unable to drive on the Sunday as planned due to other commitments. Happily club members Toto and Chet Brucculeri and the twins agreed to step in to the breech and did a wonderful job driving the Fiat on the Sunday and were able to meet and get to know the Ferrari Team plus a few other celebrities.

I received many kind and positive comments regarding the little car and I hope and believe that it was a resounding success and great fun for all involved.
One last note, Jenson Button expressed his appreciation of the car and told me he was hunting for a Fiat 500 - needless to say I offered my assistance if required!
